Norwegian multinational metal company

A large Norwegian multinational had in a short timeframe transformed itself from a conglomerate to a specialist global leader in metals. As a result, the company was also in need to restructure its SAP based HR shared services including employee data management, payroll, time and attendance and travel expenses. 

Zalaris was selected as the preferred supplier after a short RFP process lasting approximately three months.  Our solution included implementation of an outsourced HR service for 4’600 employees and 9’500 pensioners based on our smartHR powered by SAP HCM template as the core product. 

19 new colleagues were transferred to Zalaris in August 2009 as a part of the Transition Project.  At the same time a Transformation Program was launched that converted the clients’ existing SAP HR based solution to the Zalaris smartHR solution.   Employee Self Service (ESS) and Manager Self Service (MSS) was implemented for all white collar staff.   The new solution went live in January 2010.  A solution to replace the legacy solutions that were in use for handling call-center and subscription services were configured using smartHR.

New innovative functionality for our portal based dash board (e.g. reporting and supporting managers in following up sick leave) was also implemented.

As a result of entering into this agreement with Zalaris, the customer has realised savings of more than 20% of costs.  In addition, a new best practice smartHR based solution has been implemented enabling the client to streamline and improve their HR processes.   The project was completed over a period lasting approximately six months.
